Green Task Force, Key Club Combine to Recycle Shoes

Gather up your old shoes for a Shoe Recycle Drive being conducted by the Green Task Force and the Key Club.

Green Task Force President Judy Dearden said donations can be made throughout the month of April via a Planet Aid bin that will near the paper recycling containers in the school's parking lot. Delivery is expected on Friday so it will be there when school resumes from spring break on Monday. There also will be a collection box in the school office.

All shoes will be taken, regardless of condition. If usable, they will be sent to countries in need. If not, they will be recycled. Dearden said the goal is to help people who need shoes and keep as many shoes as possible out of landfills.

She said that if the drive is successful it might be expanded to other schools in the Mayfield district.
