Mail Carrier Accused Of Stealing From Homes In Northeast Ohio
The mail carrier is accused of stealing $690 of reward certificates from homes along his route.
MENTOR, OH — A Northeast Ohio mailman has been accused of stealing reward certificates from homes along his route, the Department of Justice announced.
Keith Ludrowsky, 55, from Painesville, has been charged with theft of mail by a postal employee, the Department of Justice announced. Ludrowsky's mail route was in Mentor.
Ludrowsky would pick out mail that had Dick's Sporting Goods reward certificates, the indictment said. Those certificates were being sent to residents to use as store credit after they made an online purchase from the sporting goods and apparel retailer.

The certificates were worth $10, $20 and $50, the indictment said.
Between June 2018 and May 2019, Ludrowsky stole and then used 61 reward certificates, worth a total of $690, the indictment said. He also made 11 online purchases using the stolen rewards certificates, the indictment said.

He bought sporting goods and equipment with the certificates, the indictment said. All the merchandise was shipped to Ludrowsky's home in Painesville, the indictment added.
The mailman was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service – Office of Inspector General.
Last year, in November 2018, a mail carrier was sentenced for stealing gift cards from residents in Willowick and Eastlake. They were sentenced to six months in prison for the thefts.
