Mayfield Heights Police Re-Certified On Use Of Force Standards

The department was re-certified for its adherence to a set of state standards on use of force, vehicle pursuits, recruitment and more.

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH — Mayfield Heights police have achieved re-certification of the Ohio Collaborative standards for law enforcement. The standards are part of the state's efforts to strengthen community and police relations.

Developed by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board, the standards cover a variety of topics, including use of force, when to chase suspects fleeing in cars, how to use body cameras and more. More information on the standards developed by the board can be found on the group's website.

More than 440 law enforcement agencies in Ohio are currently certified by the Ohio Criminal Justice Services organization. Another 57 agencies are in the process of being re-certified.

  • Liberty Township Police Department (Trumbull County)
  • Mayfield Heights Police Department (Cuyahoga County)
  • Mill Creek Metro Parks Police Department Trumbull County)
  • Canton Police Department (Stark County)
  • Stow Police Department (Summit County)
  • Sugarcreek Police Department (Tuscarawas)
  • Waite Hill Police Department (Lake County)
