Mayfield Heights To Have Live Feed for Surveillance Cameras
Part of upgrade to city's Internet service that will also connect the community center.

An upgrade to Internet service will allow dispatchers to receive a live feed from surveillance cameras in the city's parks.
City Council approved spending up to $13,600 for the upgrade at Monday's meeting. Councilman Ron Kobunski said he's heard about fixtures being destroyed at parks and wondered about the severity of the problem.
Mayor Gregory Costabile said the vandalism hasn't been out of the ordinary, but the live feed will protect the investment the city has made in park projects and help protect residents.
"They can know that they're safe and we're monitoring it," he said.
The upgrade will also provide faster Internet service to the parks and city buildings, including the . Although it will not be initially be available for public access, Costabile said the city can add wireless routers so residents can get on the Internet, particularly at the community center.
"We've had requests from groups," Costabile told council.
The community center has not had Internet access and is being added to the city's network. Places like the pool have had access, but the upgrade will increase the speed and help with licenses purchases, which have been held up at times because of service problems.
