Mayfield, Neighboring Cities Would Benefit From State Budget

MAYFIELD, OH — State Rep. Phil Robinson announced this week that several institutions would benefit from the state's $2.1 billion capital appropriations budget.

Robinson, whose district includes Mayfield and several neighboring cities, noted that several of his constituents projects would receive funding under Senate Bill 310. In total, District 6 would receive $1.125 million for projects.

“I’m glad we were able to come together to keep funding essential, major brick-and-mortar and local community projects in these difficult times, as we address COVID-19 and its impact,” Robinson said. “Ohio and the federal government need to avoid the failed policy of austerity in favor of stimulating local economies by funding what benefits our communities.”

The budget includes $186.5 million for community projects, including a number of projects in Cuyahoga County. Here are some of the groups receiving funding in or near Robinson's district:

• $150,000 in funds for Solon Innovation Center
• $100,000 in funds for Independence Civic Center Renovations
• $100,000 in funds for Mayfield Village Civic Center Upgrades
• $100,000 in funds for Chagrin Falls Village Riverside Park Walking Path
• $75,000 in funds for Brecksville Blossom Hill Baseball Field Lighting
• $75,000 in funds for Seven Hills Calvin Park Concession Project
• $75,000 in funds for Village of Moreland Hills Forest Ridge Park Improvements
• $50,000 in funds for Lyndhurst Inclusive and Accessible Playground Project
• $100,000 in funds for Broadview Heights Community Amphitheater
• $50,000 in funds for Chagrin Falls Historical Society Campaign for the 1874 Italianate House
• $250,000 in funds for Jennings Center for Older Adults Safe Movement Equipment

The capital appropriations budget is expected to hit the Ohio House floor on Thursday for a vote.
