Mayfield Schools Begins Search For Next Superintendent
Finding Leaders to help with hiring process.

Mayfield school board members are setting up focus groups to gather input that will help in the selection process for the next superintendent.
Finding Leaders, a Valley View firm that has assisted dozens of area districts with superintendent searches, is being paid $12,000 to help Mayfield schools in selecting a replacement for Phillip Price, who will retire in July. The plan is to hire then next superintendent in the spring.
Board of Education President Sue Groszek said unions, an administrative team, PTO leaders and the Mayfield Business Alliance will be asked for input.
"What we're going is looking at the key issues of our stakeholders," she said. "What we've been asking are fro the top three qualities that we are collectively looking for in a superintendent. We have developed a very unique culture in Mayfield and we want to find a superintendent who will pick up where Dr. Price left off and take us to the next level."
Groszek said the district has a leadership team and that's something it would like to maintain under a new superintendent.
"This is something that is noticed outside of the walls of this district," she said.
It's because of that unique culture that contract talks with all three unions took less than a week, Groszek said. She said that teachers came forward regarding the last contract and offered to take no salary or step increases.
"That's pretty uncommon for your employees to come to you," she said.
