Mayfield Village Thanked for Hosting Tree Commission Academy
Service Director Doug Metzung among graduates.

Urban forester Alan Siewert of the Ohio Division of Forestry came to a Council meeting to thank officials for hosting the Tree Commission Academy.
He also delivered a diploma to one of the graduates, village Service Director Doug Metzung.
The academy teaches the basics of urban forestry through a pair of two-day sessions. Classes are designed for people who care for urban forests. Siewert, who served as instructor, noted that he had assisted the village when it had problems with trees along SOM Center Road.
"The Tree Commission Academy was a lot more enjoyable than that," he said.
Metzung said 700 trees were planted on SOM in 2004 or 2005 and about half of them quickly died.
"They were planted too early in the season," he said. He aded that the village was reimbursed for the cost of the trees.
