'Moms Talk' Q & A: Dealing With Snow Days
What do you do when school is closed because of snow?

Each week the council will answer a question on parenthood posed to them by readers or another member of council.
This week, the Moms Council address the topic of snow days. While kids await weather reports with excitement, talk of big storms means parents have to make arrangements.
Susan Jerome: Those days are gone now but, in the past, IÂ took a vacation day from work to stay home with the kids. I think I enjoyed it as much as them! It was a surprise day to stay at home and play or watch a movie and relax knowing we didn't have anywhere we had to be.

I was very fortunate to be able to have a flexible job; I know many parents aren't that blessed.
Kim Zannetti: For right now I am safe … a snow day is a day off of work, but I usually end up "catching up" with paperwork, phone calls, grading papers, etc.
For the kids, we try to plan something fun. Even if it is just a P.J. day, baking something, or watching a movie. It is just a nice opportunity to catch your breath.
