Since we're just starting out in 2012, it seemed like a good time to talk about children setting New Year's resolutions.
I don't recall making any resolutions as a child or discussing them with my parents, but I didn't know if that's something that's done nowadays. So, let's ask the Moms Council.

Kim Zannetti: Actually, we have our annual "lunch date" with the kids. We talk about self improvement, and how to become stronger. We set an academic goal as a way to "recharge" during the middle of the school year, and a personal goal.
We have done this with the kids since they were little, and it does seem to make an impression. ... we look back after a couple of months and see who is sticking to their goal, and if it needs to be revised. It is fun to try to stay on track.
