Murphy Set to Lead Highland Heights City Council

Catalano's property, Bass Energy lawsuit are priorities.

When City Council has its first meeting of 2012 tonight, there will be a new president.

, an attorney and council member since 2004, said she want to tap into the talents of her colleagues and is willing to share the spotlight.

"My leadership approach is that it isn't about me, it's about us working together, united toward achieving our goals," Murphy said.

Two priorities for 2012 will be addressing the proposed Shoppes at Brainard Crossing/GetGo development and resolution of the city's lawsuit with Bass Energy about a lease for gas wells in the city's park.

"It's been relegated to arbitration," Murphy said. "Nothing's happening at this moment. I'm looking to step that up and getting a conclusion."

As far as committees, Murphy said she doesn't intend on starting any new ones at the moment and will make assignments based on council members' requests.

Murphy said she doesn't expect too much to change from the way council has been run.

"It'll be a seamless transition," she said.
