National Day of Service: Find a Volunteer Activity Near You

Are you volunteering today? Tell us in the comments.

Today, communities across the country will find ways to give back and honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through the National Day of Service.

The Corporation for National and Community Service says this tradition began in 2009 with President Barack Obama’s first inauguration. This year, the presidential Inauguration and Martin Luther King Jr. Day land on the same day of the year, and the National Day of Service in honor of King is being held on Saturday, Jan. 19.

To find volunteer opportunities near the Mayfield-Hillcrest communities, use the corporation’s website or the Presidential Inaugural Committee's National Day of Service’s website. No activities are listed in town, but a variety lie a short drive away in Cleveland and Akron.
