Old Mayfield Village Hall to be Replaced by Green Space
Demolition scheduled for late July.
There's going to be a lot more space to gather around the gazebo.
The former Village Hall on the north side of Wilson Mills Road is scheduled for demolition this summer and the plan is to have trees and green space in its place.
"The plan has always been to make it green space," Village Administrator Diane Wolgamuth said. "Any time there's an opportunity to add to the green space we have it's a good thing."
In addition to removing the building, the parking lot will be rearranged, with access at the north and west ends of the property, so that the entire frontage will be green space.
"It will give us a lot more green space," Wolgamuth said. "Overall, we think it's a better footprint for the area."
The first step in the project will be the demolition of the old Village Hall, scheduled to take place in July.
"We had hoped to have it done between (June 9) and the Fourth of July, but it's going to be a few weeks after that," she said.
