
Old Navy will open its new store to the public at 6 p.m. Friday in the Eastgate shopping center at SOM Center and Mayfield roads in .
The Golden Gate location, which had been one of the chain's first 50 stores when it opened 16 years ago, closed on Tuesday.
Store manager Aldona Johansonas said the new store has a more open floor plan that will make it easier for shoppers to find items.
"It's a redesigned store to make it easier for customers to shop," she said.
Many Old Navy stores nationally are being redesigned and retooled and special "Grand Reveal Celebrations" are being scheduled to launch openings of these stores.
The Grand Reveal Celebration for the Eastgate store will be on Saturday and Sunday. Johansonas said there will be fire trucks and hot dogs as well as specials that include a sale on Graphic Tees, which will be $4 – regular price is $16.94.
Customers will also have the chance to with a $500 shopping spree and access to 12 months of Mega Deals with any purchase.
Of course, the following weekend is also expected to be a busy one for the new store, which will open at midnight on Thanksgiving for a Black Friday sale.
"We've been opening on Thursday night for three years now," Johansonas said.
