Police Blotter: Motorist Said Erratic Driving was to Avoid Other Car

Mayfield Heights police called at 11:15 p.m. Feb. 11 to relay information about an erratic driver in a BMW that exited Interstate 271 at Wilson Mills Road. Police said the driver checked OK and he said another car was driving too close to him on the highway.

A caller at 6:33 p.m. Feb. 12 said it sounded like someone was shooting a gun behind his home. Police checked with a Miner Road resident who did not hear anything of the sort.

A man called police at 7:45 p.m. Feb. 12 because he was worried about his mother. He tried to reach her for six hours with no response and said it was not like her. Police checked and the woman was not at her workplace. The son called back at 9:14 p.m. and said his mom was back at her Castlehill Drive home.

A woman came to the police station lobby at 10:19 p.m. Feb. 12 and said her boyfriend pushed her down and broke her phone. The incident occurred in Mayfield Village and she was referred to that police department.

A Wilson Mills Road woman called at 1:25 a.m. Feb. 12 and said her husband choked her out and was still in the house. Then she hung up the phone. When police called back, she said the man left. Police told the woman she had a warrant from Shaker Heights for failure to appear in court. Officers went back to the house later for a follow-up and arrested the husband on a charge of domestic violence.
