Police Blotter: Solicitors Gave Mixed Accounts About Sick Child

Several residents called at about 3:19 p.m. March 10 about solicitors in the area of Williamsburg Drive. They were crossing lawns and looking through windows. One caller said the solicitors claimed to be collecting for a sick child on Pinehurst. They compared notes with a neighbor and one had been told the child was a boy, while the other was told it was a girl. Police spoke with one of the solicitors and told him that they would be cited if there were any more complaints.

Witnesses reported at 3:58 p.m. March 13 that a Verizon employee yelled "thief" and was chasing after a man on Wilson Mills Road. The suspect got into a Uhaul truck parked by , according to a witness. Police said the employee wanted to call his store manager to decide what to do.

Richmond Heights police called for mutual aid at 9:32 p.m. March 11 after a strong-arm robbery occurred in an apartment building. There were two male suspects and no weapons were seen or mentioned. Police checked woods the men ran into and were unable to find them.

A caller at 8:39 a.m. March 11 wanted to talk to an officer about a small dog that was being walked on a leash and was out of control at Aberdeen Boulevard and Muirfield Drive. He said the dog was barking at his Toyota Sequia.

Someone must think they're in England – a caller at 11:09 a.m. March 10 said her car was almost hit on Colony Drive by a pickup on the wrong side of the road. She said the truck was then parked on the wrong side of the street. The truck was gone when police arrived.
