Police Warn Mayfield Heights Residents to Watch for Burglars

Detective Joe Leskovec of the Police Department said two men in a white panel/work van tried to burglarize a Jackie Lane house on Tuesday.

He said the elderly woman living at the house let a Hispanic man about 40 years old into her house and he lured her outside to look at property lines in the backyard. After a few minutes, she became suspicious and asked the man to leave.

As the woman walked back to her house, she saw a man exit the side door, Leskovec said.

Nothing was taken and the men got into a white panel/work van and left the area. Leskovec said that residents should call police at 440-442-2323 if they see a white work van in an elderly neighbor's driveway.
