Progressive Looks To Expand, Will Hire 2,000 Northeast Ohioans

The insurance company wants to expand rapidly and is looking to hire 10,000 people nationwide, including 2,000 in the Cleveland area.

MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OH — Progressive Insurance expects to hire 2,000 Northeast Ohioans in 2019, a move the company said will support its rapid growth. The company wants to hire 10,000 people nationwide.

"This is the largest hiring forecast in Progressive's history," said Chief Human Resources Officer Lori Niederst. "We are excited to add hardworking talent to our team who are interested in a career with Progressive. For decades, we've been developing people who started in jobs like these into successful business athletes who rise to our leadership ranks. In fact, our CEO started as a Claims rep and I joined Progressive as an Analyst."

In the Cleveland area, Progressive is looking to add new employees to the company's customer service, sales, multi-product sales, claims representatives, marketing, legal, IT, business analysis and other teams.

Progressive officials said the company has grown more than 50-percent over the past three years, and boasted $30 billion in revenue in 2018. To support this newfound success and growth, the company is planning to add thousands of jobs nationwide.

Besides the Cleveland area jobs, Progressive expects to hire:

  • Austin, TX – 1,000 employees
  • Colorado Springs, CO – 1,100 employees
  • Phoenix, AZ – 375 employees
  • Sacramento, CA – 380 employees
  • Tampa, FL – 1,500 employees

More than half of the jobs will be based at large Progressive campuses nationwide. The other positions will be housed in Progressive field claims offices, or work from home.
