Rite Aid Store Closed in Mayfield Heights
Customers referred to Walgreens in Lyndhurst.

There will be a liquidation sale starting at 8 p.m. Saturday to sell off what remains at a closed Rite Aid store at Mayfield and Lander roads in .
The store closed last weekend, said city Building Director Tom Jamieson, who said the Rite Aid had not told city officials about the closing. A sign on the front door informs customers that prescriptions have been transferred to the Walgreens pharmacy at 5644 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst.

Rite Aid spokesman Eric Harkreader said the company regularly evaluates performance of stores. The closed store had been in operation since 1996.

"Closing a store is a decision we don't like to make and we don't make lightly," he said. "It was for the betterment of the company."
Harkreader said prescriptions were transfered to Walgreens for customer convenience and it's common industry practice to utilize the closest pharmacy.

According to posted hours, the liquidation sale will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, including weekends.
