Two Police Officers Promoted in Mayfield Village
Vacancies created by retirement of Don Smith.
Patrol Officer Matt Hocevar and Sgt. Kevin Miller were sworn in Monday for their new positions with the Police Department.
Hocevar, who had worked part time, and Miller, who works in the detective bureau, were promoted following the .
"How many people recall what they did in 1961?" Mayor Bruce Rinker said at Monday's village council meeting, referring to the year Smith started working for the village.
Rinker then addressed the officers being promoted due to Smith's retirement.
"These are two exceptional officers," he said. "They both scored at the top of their respective tests (for promotion)."
He added that Miller is a Mayfield High School graduate, while Hocevar grew up nearby and graduated from Brush High School.
