Weekend Forecast: Mayfield Residents Looking for Harvest Moon May Get Rain

MAYFIELD, OH - Disappointing budding astrologers everywhere, this weekend's view of the Harvest Moon will be obscured by incoming rain showers. If you want to catch a glimpse of that big, orange rock in the sky you should try and cast your gaze skyward tonight.

While this evening should be clear, if a bit chilly, forecasts are currently predicting rain showers throughout the day on Saturday and light rain on Sunday.

Friday - Today's high will be around 83, with a low near 54. There's a 0 percent chance of precipitation.Temperatures will start to drop between 7 and 8 p.m., and the sun will set around 7:40 p.m.

Saturday - Tomorrow's high will be 80, with a low of 69. Light rain is expected throughout the day, with a chance of precipitation of 56 percent.

Sunday - The weekend will end with light rain throughout the day. The chance for precipitation is 54 percent. The high is expected to be 78, with a low of 69.

The Harvest Moon will make an appearance at 7:05 p.m. Eastern Time on Sept. 16. Perigee comes around 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Sept. 18.

The upcoming harvest moon, so named because it’s the closest full moon to the fall equinox on Sept. 22, will be especially bright this year because it’s near perigee. What’s that, you who slacked in science class, ask? A moon is in perigee when it’s at the closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit.
