The school will bring in pianists, flutists and cellists of great acclaim during a three-event concert series over the summer.

GATES MILLS, OH — A new summer concert series is coming to Gilmour Academy. Called "Tuesdays at Tudor", the event will be held the third Tuesday of each month over the summer and will bring world-class artists to perform at the school's Tudor House. Concerts will be held June 20, July 18, and August 15.

The first event is titled "The Magical Music of the Movies" and will feature pianist Marshall Griffith and flutists Virginia Crabtree. The July 18 concert is titled "Duos and Trios" and will feature Solomon Liang on violin, Chauncy Aceret on the cello and Amy Tan on the piano. The August 15 concert will be a piano solo by a previous winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition.

All concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last for one-hour. The concerts will be preceded by wine and light hors d’oeuvres in the Tudor House and Tudor Gardens at 6 p.m.

Gilmour Academy is in the process replacing all of its on-campus pianos with Steinway & Sons grand pianos. The school added three such pianos to their facilities recently and is now in the process of becoming a Steinway Select K-12 School, which simply means that all of the pianos on-campus will be Steinway & Sons grand pianos. Gilmour will be the first school in the Midwest to achieve this designation.

Matthew Figgie, a 1984 alumnus, is footing the bill for the pianos.

“Our commitment to music, theater and fine arts programs gives witness to our mission at Gilmour of educating the minds and hearts of our students.” Head of School Kathy Kenny said, “Matthew Figgie’s incredible generosity provides us with support to provide transformational experiences during our school day and beyond. I am honored to be able to extend an invitation to the greater community to reap the benefits of these amazing performances and celebrate the talent of these world-class artists. We are forever grateful to Mr. Figgie and his family for their philanthropy and loyalty to Gilmour Academy.”
