Free Smoke Detectors Available To Shaker Heights Residents
The Shaker Heights Fire Department will install 2,000 new photoelectric smoke detectors in home in the city...for free.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH —The Shaker Heights Fire Department will install 2,000 new photoelectric smoke detectors in the homes of residents, for free. The offer is good until the smoke detectors run out.
Installation for the smoke detectors will be conducted between now and August, the city said. Residents must agree to have the fire department install the smoke detector in their home to qualify for the offer.
There are two other caveats to receiving the smoke detector. First, residents can't have an automatic, monitored alarm system. Second, resident cannot have received a free photoelectric smoke detector through the 2013 grant program.
