More Than 100 Shaker Homes Without Power After Storm

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — More than 80,000 northern Ohioans were without power when they woke Friday morning, including more than 100 homes in Shaker Heights.

Powerful winds blew through much of northern Ohio on Thursday night and Friday morning, with wind gusts hitting 60 mph. The winds took down tree branches and power lines, leaving many homes in the dark.

FirstEnergy estimates that at least 112 customers in Shaker Heights are in the dark as of Friday morning. Many of the outages are concentrated on the west side of the city.

There is no estimate for when power will be restored because of how widespread the outages are. Crews have not yet been dispatched to many of the Shaker Heights outages.

A high wind warning remains in effect for Cuyahoga County and Lorain County through at least 12 p.m., the National Weather Service said. Temperatures will drop into the low 50s and high 40s and there's a small chance of rain throughout Friday.
