More Than 400 Shaker Heights Residents Without Power
Thunderstorms opened the week on Monday, and many residents found themselves without electricity.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — More than 400 Shaker Heights residents are without power on Monday morning, according to the FirstEnergy Storm Center, which tracks outages.
The outages map shows an area of blackouts concentrated near Union Avenue, around E. 142nd and E. 143rd streets. That outage appears to be impacting a large number of homes.
FirstEnergy said it is not sure what caused the power outages, but it expects to have electricity running to the majority of customers by 11 a.m.

Crews are currently working to repair the outage. Luckily for residents, the extreme heat wave that gripped Northeast Ohio over the weekend broke on Monday morning. Storms rolled in with a crack of thunder and rain has been falling steadily throughout the a.m.
Current forecasts call for a high of 75 degrees on Monday, with a low of 65 degrees. The rainfall is expected to slow by 1 p.m. The National Weather Service said up to a quarter inch of rain could fall throughout the morning.
