'Say Goodnight Gracie' Coming To Shaker Heights In September
Shaker Heights High School welcomes Alan Safier as George Burns on September 15th.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - From Shaker Schools Foundation: Alan Safier, member of the Shaker Heights High School Class of 1967, becomes George Burns in “Say Goodnight Gracie,” the Tony-nominated solo actor play by Rupert Holmes, at Shaker Heights High School on Friday, September 15 at 7 p.m. This performance is open to the public and co-sponsored by the Shaker Heights High School Class of 1967 as part of their 50th reunion activities, and by the Shaker Schools Foundation.
“We are delighted to welcome the Shaker Class of 1967 to their fiftieth reunion weekend,” said Director of Alumni Relations Holly Coughlin, “and we look forward to filling the High School’s large auditorium for Mr. Safier’s evocation of George Burns.”
Growing up in Shaker Heights, Mr. Safier was often in trouble at school for making his classmates laugh. Today he is known for his more than five decades of work on stage and television, in commercials and voice-overs, and as George Burns, whom he’s portrayed off-Broadway and across the United States for 10 years. Mr. Safier, who resides in New York City, also has played other famous people on stage: John Adams, Spiro Agnew, Albert Einstein, and Truman Capote. He earned an MFA in acting at Ohio University and has appeared in plays on New York, West Coast, and regional stages. He teaches voice-over, musical performance, and acting workshops in New York and at universities and theater festivals and is a playwright and author. Mr. Safier is a passionate Cleveland Indians fan. For more information, visit www.alansafier.com.
