Shaker Heights Basketball In State Tournament Play On March 9

The Red Raiders knocked off John Hay High School on March 4. The team returns to action March 9 against Maple Heights High School.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - The Shaker Heights Red Raiders boys basketball team will be playing Maple Heights High School on March 9 as part of the state basketball tournament. The two teams will square off on March 9 at Solon High School, 33600 Inwood Dr, Solon.

The Red Raiders are the third ranked team in the Solon District of the Division I Tournament. Shaker Heights dispatched John Hay Campus High School on March 4, winning 64-55. John Hay was ranked fifth in the division.

Maple Heights is the two-seed in the division. The Mustangs finished the season 18-5 overall and 7-3 in-conference. The Red Raiders will have to go uphill to beat Maple Heights. Shaker finished the season with an 11-12 record overall and 5-9 in-conference.

Should the Red Raiders pull of the upset on March 9, their next game would be for the Division Championship and would be played March 11 at Solon High School. Shaker Heights would play either the one-seed, Garfield Heights, or fourth-seed Kenston.
