Shaker Heights Man Competing In National Golf Tournament
The man is part of a foursome from Northeast Ohio that qualified for the finals of the Liberty Insurance Invitational.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - A local man will be competing in the finals of a national golf tournament. The Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitation National Finals will be held March 8-12 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verda Beach, Florida and Patrick Bacon, from Shaker, will be competing.
Bacon is part of a Northeast Ohio foursome that qualified for the Finals. Included in the group are Carmen Edgehouse, from Avon, Bob Dodson, from Maineville, and Joe Wieligman, from Toledo. They will be competing with 240 other amateur golfers. The foursome qualified for Finals by winning the Liberty Mutual Invitational held at The Mayfield Sand Ridge Club in Chardon. That tournament was held on June 6, 2016 and benefited the Lupus Foundation of America.
More than 75 golf tournaments were held across the nation last year and the winners of each tournament will be descending on the national Finals. The tournaments have generated more than $8 million for charitable organizations.

“These foursomes were among more than 12,000 amateur golfers across the country who generously supported national and local charities by playing in the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational,” said Nicole Guidara, VP, manager, brand strategy & insights, Liberty Mutual Insurance, in a statement. “We sincerely appreciate these players’ efforts and look forward to celebrating their invaluable contributions to their communities.”
Curtis Strange, a two-time US Open Champ and World Golf Hall of Famer, will be serving as honorary chairm of the Liberty Mutual Invitation. He will also be interacting with players during the four-day tournment.

“I am proud and honored to be a part of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational,” said Strange in a statement. “In just seven years, this annual tournament for amateur golfers has raised over $45 million for so many worthwhile charities and the people that they serve.”
