Shaker Heights Man Indicted For Not Paying Child Support

One Shaker Heights man is among seven defendants charged with criminal non-support, and he owes more than $71,000.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason announced that seven defendants were indicted for failing to make child support payments, including one man from Shaker Heights, who owes the most out of all of the defendants.

Anthony Abbott, 49, owes nearly $71,000 for his 14-year-old child, according to the prosecutor’s office. His most recent voluntary payment of $35.11 was made on Dec. 2, 2008. Two hearings were held in juvenile court between 1999 and 2009. He is being charged with two counts of criminal non-support.

The other defendants are from Cleveland. Combined, the seven men owe more than $299,000 in child support and have been charged with criminal non-support, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison. The Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the prosecutor’s office investigated these cases.
