Socially Distant Concert Planned In Shaker Heights

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — ShakerFest, a socially distant concert, will be held in Shaker Heights on Friday at noon. Students from throughout the district will sing or play the Mighty Raiders song for pedestrians.

The district has released tools to help singers and musicians get ready for Friday's concert. The lyrics to the Mighty Raiders song have been posted online, along with videos on the melody, videos on how to play the song (sorted by instrument) and details on the song's riff.

Everyone should maintain their distance during the concerts and photos and videos posted to social media should include a tag of the student's school building. WKYC will be filming performances and will produce a story on the event.

"Let’s have some fun and share our music making with our community," the district's music teachers said in a letter to the community. "We plan to continue these events on Fridays while virtual school is ‘in session’. Just like in Dr. Seuss’s, Horton Hears a Who!, every sound counts. We look forward to hearing you perform on Friday."
