Summertime and Shaker Residents Are Reading
Curious about what your friends and neighbors are reading?

What's on your summer reading list? Shaker Library staff have been busy checking out some popular books this season. Clearly residents like to read James Patterson. His books have sold more than 300 million copies, and he was the first author to sell 1 million e-books, so it's no wonder that three of his latest books co-authored with others are top checkouts from Shaker Library. The prolific author has shared his success by founding the James Patterson and Scholastic Books Giveaway for Classroom Libraries. (Teachers take note, the site considers entries through July 31.)
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng continues to be popular with Shaker residents. Set in Shaker Heights and written by a Shaker Heights High School graduate, the book is guaranteed to spark conversation with residents.
David Baldacci's audiobook, Redemption, has been a popular checkout. Narrated by Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy, it is the fifth in Baldacci's Amos Decker series. As you're listening to the suspenseful story it will also warm your heart to know that Baldacci and his wife, Michelle, are the co-founders of the Wish You Well Foundation, which supports adult and family literacy in the United States.

" Lawyer and author John Grisham has written another legal suspense that Shaker readers are enjoying. Reviewers have commented that Picoult "sees humans at their best, while understanding them at their most fragile." Her latest book, which tackles the abortion issue, proves this to be true.
Looking for entertaining, page-turning fiction? Check out Nine Perfect Strangers by Australian author Liane Moriarty. Read the book and imagine the characters before it's turned into a movie.
