Van Aken District Seeks Art Submissions
The 2020 Mural Project will end with six vinyl prints being installed in Bowser Alley at the Van Aken District.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The Van Aken District is asking artists to submit portfolios if they are interested in having their work displayed locally as a large-scale printed mural. Six pieces will be displayed in the city.
Each piece will be printed on vinyl and placed in Bowser Alley, which stretches between Market Hall and the parking garage. The contest is being run by the city of Shaker Heights, the Van Aken District and LAND Studio.
The 2020 Mural Project is open to all qualified artists, 18 years and older. Artists with ties to Shaker Heights or Greater Cleveland are especially encouraged to participate. Submissions are due by Monday, April 13. Artists will receive $500 per piece selected.

Last year, the "Sidechairs" project was installed by Coryn Kempster and Julia Jamrozik in four spots around Van Aken. Other, smaller projects have been integrated over the past year.
Officials are also considering installing a signature public art piece for the district.
