June Mayor Letter

Dear Stow Residents,

Find out what's happening in Stowfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

The first official day of summer is almost here and we are making our way safely to normal. I couldn’t be more pleased to see smiling familiar faces! As we ramp up, we must all remember to be respectful of those around us. Every individual has a different comfort level with masking, distancing and being together with people, and I ask that we all keep that in mind as we go about our daily routines and start spending more time out and about. Thank you for thinking of each other!

As we slowly move toward larger group gatherings, we have an abundance of fun family events coming up for our Stow Strong Celebration, which runs from June 26 – through July 5. NEW this year – Fun in Stow Play Day and Patriotic Pedal – Bike parade! Click here for the full listing.

I am so pleased to announce that the City of Stow has reached a tentative agreement with The Hanson Family, a longstanding family in the Stow community, to purchase the 36 acres of land on the corner of Call Road and Young Road. This purchase will be a sound investment for the City, and will benefit the community in many ways. The City will retain and improve the existing driving range for Fox Den Golf Course that we have been leasing from the Hanson Family. Additionally, plenty of acreage would be available for future recreational needs in the city.

We are currently poised to undertake a Master Plan of all parks and recreational facilities, so the timing for this acquisition is perfect. The process will include many avenues for community engagement. I encourage residents to seize the opportunity to weigh in on potential uses for this property as the city moves forward with the plan.

I am also excited to report that we continue to invest in the infrastructure in our community, making steady progress on our improvements initiatives. Ultimately, our goal is to provide the best services to our residents, and to make sure our community is sustainable.

  • Spring & Summer Road re-paving program underway
  • Darrow Road Sidewalk construction project underway
  • Continuation of Park and Facility Improvement Initiative

It’s not just about today – it’s about our future. Together, we are moving Stow forward!

I pledge to continue my accessibility to our residents and businesses. Your ideas, input and feedback are so very beneficial in understanding the concerns of our community. I have the best interest of Stow at heart and I hope you do as well.

Sincerely,

Mayor John Pribonic
City of Stow
