December Mayor Letter
Dear Stow Residents,

As 2020 comes to an end, it is a perfect time to reflect on the year. While it was extremely difficult for so many, I am optimistic that 2021 will be better. However, I am also so thankful and proud of our community. I saw so many acts of kindness over the past year. Our community came together to help out when people needed it, and we supported each other through business closures, loss of loved ones, financial hardships and so much more. Thank you to everyone who managed to create a bright spot for another person in an otherwise very trying year. We are #StowStrong, and that has truly shown this year. Let’s continue to be there for our community and be that light for one another as we enter 2021!
With that being said, we know the holidays and the end of the year can be very difficult on people and it may even be compounded this year with the feeling of isolation and loneliness caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. But we want you to know that you are not alone. You matter! You are important, you are appreciated, and you are loved. The City of Stow has compiled a list of local and national resources on our website. Additionally, if needed, the City of Stow police department is able to conduct welfare checks on loved ones. Please know that help is available. Reach out if you are struggling, know someone else who is or if you just need someone to talk to. All conversations are kept anonymous.

Glow with Stow is also back this year! While the lighting party won’t be held this year due to the increasing COVID-19 cases, we will still light up the Stow City Center for all to enjoy! We encourage all of our residents and their families to walk through the City Center to see all of the lights and displays and share in the holiday spirit in a safe and socially distanced way. Glow with Stow will light up the city from Dec. 3 through Jan. 3, 2021.
We are also asking all of our residents to help welcome Santa to Stow in our Christmas Eve Jingle! It is important to show our smallest community members – our children – that Santa is essential and that he can still stop his sleigh in Stow and drop off presents. Therefore, on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m., we want to hear those jingle bells! This inaugural event will help spread the Christmas spirit and help Santa fly his sleigh. To participate, simply go out into your front yard or front porch and ring a bell for two minutes. Bells are available at Stow City Hall and will also be distributed at upcoming events and drive-throughs in the community.
I would like to wish our #StowStrong community a very happy holiday season and a healthy and prosperous new year. As always, thank you for your continual support and dedication to this great city! With a great community and neighborly love and togetherness, we can get through anything!
Sincerely,
Mayor John Pribonic
City of Stow
