CFC Charity Spotlight: Blessings International

Blessings International is a nonprofit headquartered in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, that provides pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and medical supplies to clinics, hospitals, and nearly 3,000 medical teams traveling to more than 140 nations. Each year, the organization ships an average of 250,000 pounds of medicine.

One such example is the Clinica Esperanza, a medical clinic on the island of Roatan, Honduras. Founded by American-born Peggy Stranges, the clinic can see more than 110 patients in one day, giving out more than 8,000 pills and approximately 300 prescriptions. The clinic is also intentional about sharing resources, regularly partnering with other clinics, ministries, and missionaries in the Bay Islands. Even the main hospital refers patients to Clinica Esperanza for prescription fulfillment.

Through the donations that Blessings receives, they also help subsidize the medical costs for emergency teams working in disaster zones as well teams working in medical clinics in the U.S.

Oklahoma City resident Sue Forsythe, who visited the Blessings International supported Agape Medical Clinic, never expected to rely on a charitable clinic. After losing her job and home, though, she was unable to afford health insurance. The clinic Sue regularly attended adjusted their circumference of care, causing Sue to be dropped from the program when she only had two-weeks worth of medicine left at home. Unable to afford more, she expected to die at home. Thankfully, a call led her to the Agape Medical Clinic, 45-minutes away, where she found medicine and support from the clinic staff.

Blessings International (CFC #11864) is one of the Combined Federal Campaign charities supported through donations pledged by Federal employees and military personnel. The CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace giving campaign. Last year, Federal employees contributed more than $93 million to thousands of local, national, and international causes in both funds and volunteer time.

Through their generosity in the CFC, federal and military personnel have helped find cures for children with cancer, supported injured military veterans and their families, provided meals and housing for those in need, and improved millions of lives, building stronger, healthier communities for all of us.
