The dinner begins at 4 p.m. and continues until 7 p.m. at Cornelius Elementary School. All are welcome to join.

CORNELIUS, OR — The fourth annual Cornelius Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, at Cornelius Elementary School; and as has been the case for the past three years, once again all are welcome to come enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast with friends, family, and neighbors.

Dinner will be offered from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 200 N. 14th Ave. and will include all the classic fixings, as well as tamales. The meal is free, as usual, and is provided by the city of Cornelius, Centro Cultural of Washington County, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

"Cornelius takes great pride in partnering with Centro Cultural of Washington County and the Washington County Sheriff's Office to provide a delicious warm meal for residents in our community," Cornelius Mayor Jef Dalin said in a statement.

Historically, volunteers who serve the meals come from the scouts' Explorer program, Washington County Sheriff's Office cadets, and other organizations from the community, including: the Western Washington County Firefighters and Police Officers associations, the Cornelius Walmart and Starbucks, Sonrise Church, Prime Time Restaurant & Sports Bar, Orowheat, and Tienda el Porvenir. The dinner typically serves more than 500 people.

"This is a great opportunity for those who live in our community to build relationships during a time that can sometimes be stressful for families," Cornelius Police Chief Al Roque said.
