Department of Irony: Icy Conditions Force Closure of Ice Rink
Weather permitting, Winter Village will be back open on Friday.

The area's only open air ice skating rink was forced to close Thursday because of, yes, icy conditions. The storm that forced schools to close and the roads to become treacherous, also led Hillsboro officials to close the rink for the day.
It's expected to reopen on Friday for it's normal 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 pm. hours. Weather permitting, of course.
This is the second year for Winter Village. It was so popular last year that they made the rink 16-feet longer this year and it's now more than 100 feet long.

The parks department expanded the Winter Village scene near the Plaza's oak trees. It will feature metal-framed carolers and gingerbread characters, lit up similar to ZooLights at the Oregon Zoo.
With visitors able to ride MAX Light Rail to Orenco Station, Winter Villahe organizer Iris Ringer expects between 7,000 and 10,000 people will enjoy Winter Village in 2016.
