District Seeks New School Board Member In Hillsboro

From the Hillsboro School District: The Hillsboro School District's Board of Directors has announced a vacancy that will be filled by appointment through June 30, 2019. At the end of the regular session on Tuesday, Nov. 14, Director Wayne Clift announced his intention to resign his seat, effective after the meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12, in order to pursue a teaching position with the District.

At the work session on Dec. 12, Board members discussed a proposed timeline and process for appointing Mr. Clift's replacement. The timeline and process were then approved during the regular session.

Highlights are below:

• Applications for the open position will be accepted between Dec. 13 and Jan. 16, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
• Board members will discuss interview questions at the work session on Jan. 9.
• Board members will individually screen applications between Jan. 17 and 23.
• Board members will finalize the interview questions, discuss the screening scores, and identify the applicants to be interviewed at the Jan. 23 work session.
• Board Secretary will contact the applicants with the Board's decision and will schedule interviews with those selected to move forward in the process on Jan. 24.
• Board members will conduct interviews, vote to select the candidate, and appoint and administer the oath of office to the new Board member at the Feb. 13 work session.
• New Board member will fill position 7, with a term that ends on June 30, 2019.

To be considered for the appointment, applicants must be legally registered voters and residents within the Hillsboro School District's attendance area for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment.

Applicants cannot be current Hillsboro School District staff members.
