Other groups helping in the effort and taking some of the dogs are: Oregon Humane Society, Progressive Animal Welfare Society, and Columbia Humane Society.
The rescue effort was coordinated by Humane Society International.
Earlier this year, they were contacted by the man who ran a farm, saying that he wanted their help shutting down his operating and finding homes for the dogs. The farmer had raised dogs for human consumption for 14 years and had decided to switch to medicinal crops.
This is the second time that the Humane Society of Central Oregon has participated in an international rescue operation. In March 2016, they took in 17 dogs from a similar operation.
Humane Society International has rescued about 1,400 dogs from South Korean meat farms since January 2015.
