Highway 47 To Close For Beaver Creek Bridge Project

The project to replace the aging Beaver Creek Bridge at Hwy 47 Milepost 70 will require a 60-day closure affecting a portion of the road.

VERNONIA, OR — A project to replace Beaver Creek Bridge on Highway 47 will require a complete closure of the highway between Vernonia and Buxton for approximately 60 days beginning Monday.

According to state officials, a contractor working for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will complete the work, which includes removing the current bridge and reconstructing a new one in its place.

ODOT officials said the current bridge is old and in constant need of repairs.

Beaver Creek Bridge is located at about Milepost 70 on Highway 47. Local resident access will reportedly be maintained between McDonald (north) and Johnson (south) roads from Aug. 6 to roughly Oct. 1.

Non-local commuters who regularly travel over the bridge will need to use Timber Road, which runs more or less parallel to Highway 47 on the west, from around Milepost 38 on Highway 26 to Vernonia.
