Hillsboro Repeat Sex Offender Again Convicted, Detective Credited
Tyrone Murphy has been convicted for a sixth time in 9 years on sex charges. A Hillsboro detective was credited with making the case.

HILLSBORO, OR – A repeat sex offender has been convicted one more time. A jury in Washington County found Tyrone Murphy guilty of rape, sodomy, and sex abuse.
He had five previous convictions on sex charges dating back to 2009.
The new convictions stem from an investigation that started in 2017 when Hillsboro Police received a complaint.

Officials from the Washington County District Attorney's Office praised Hillsboro Detective Anthony Johnson for developing the case, saying that he was able to locate two other women who had been victimized by Murphy.

"It is very likely the magnitude of this case would never have come to light if not for the determination of Detective Johnson," Deputy District Attorney Rayney Maisel said.
Murphy has five previous convictions on sex abuse charges dating back to 2009.
Sentencing is set for Jan 23, 2019.
