Hillsboro Residents Safely Got Out Of Their House As It Burned

Hillsboro Fire says that while two people were able to safely get out, their dog and one of their cats was not as fortunate.

HILLSBORO, OR – Two people in Hillsboro are lucky to be alive Tuesday morning after a fire tore though their home. Their dog and one of their cats were not as fortunate.

Hillsboro Fire responded to a home on the 3000 block of Southeast Tumblestone Drive about 1:30 on Tuesday morning.

The couple, who had heard breaking glass and could smell smoke, had climbed out one of the windows of their bedroom on the second floor.

They told arriving firefighters that their dog and three cats were still in the house. The couple were told that the dog and one of the cats were found dead. One cat was found alie and one is still unaccounted.

Twenty firefighters were involved in putting out the fire.

Investigators, who are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, say that there were no smoke alarms in the house.
