Hillsboro Woman In August Crash Indicted On DUI, Other Charges

A grand jury says a woman was driving under the influence when she caused a head-on crash, sending her and another driver to the hospital.

HILLSBORO, OR – A woman from Hillsboro is in jail, under indictment for charges stemming from a head-on crash in August 2018. A grand jury charged that 40-year-old Shannon Cravens was driving under the influence when she caused a crash that sent her and another driver to the hospital.

Cravens, who was arrested Wednesday afternoon, suffered critical injuries in the crash but has recovered and was booked into jail.

She is also charged with reckless driving, assault, and criminal mischief.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says that around 3:45 p.m. on August 20, 2018, a deputy on patrol arrived at a traffic crash that had apparently just happened on Northwest Cornelius Pass Road between West Union and Old Pass Roads.

Cravens had been driving a gold 2006 Chrysler Sebring when she crossed the middle line and crashed into an oncoming white 2015 Toyota4Runner driven by 50-year-old Rebecca Field of Beaverton.

Field had to be extricated from her Toyota and was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Cravens was transported by a Life Flight helicopter to a hospital with critical injuries.
