Intel Enters the Self-Driving Car Market

Will work with BMW and an Israeli company to develop technology.

Intel is moving into the self-driving car market.

Company CEO Brain Krzanich was at the Munich, Germany headquarters of BMW for the announcement that Intel would work with the carmaker and an Israeli company, Mobileye, to develop the technology.

"Highly autonomous cars and everything they connect to will require powerful and reliable electronic brains to make them smart enough to navigate traffic and avoid accidents," said Krzanich.

While there has been progress with the technology, there are also issues that need to be examined.

It was disclosed this week that a man died driving his Tesla while under autopilot mode, which is supposed to keep the car in its lane while in cruise control mode.
