Jersey Mike's Subs Opens At Sunset Esplanade, Fundraises For Hillsboro Schools Foundation

HILLSBORO, OR — Eat a sub sandwich to support Hillsboro's schools beginning this week.

The city's newest Jersey Mike's Subs is set to open Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Sunset Esplanade, next to Red Robin and Mattress Firm. To celebrate its grand opening, franchise owner Zach Heikkala is helping to raise money for the Hillsboro Schools Foundation by giving away 7,500 coupons for a free regular sub with a minimum $2 donation to the foundation. But to get the free sub from the new restaurant at 2515 S.E. Tualatin Valley Hwy., you must have a coupon.

The grand opening sub sandwich deal will run from Aug. 16 to Aug. 20.

"We are excited to be opening our second Hillsboro store," Heikkala said in a statement. "As a brand, Jersey Mike's truly believes in serving a quality product and experience while making a difference for our customers and community… As a business owner, my goal is to give back by supporting local programs and organizations that make a positive impact for the youth in the communities we serve."

Since 2010, Jersey Mike's has reportedly raised nearly $25 million for charities nationwide and given away more than 1.5 million subs for various causes, company officials said. Earlier this year, the company raised more than $5.5 million for roughly 150 charities through its 7th Annual Jersey Mike's Month of Giving event, assisted by Hillsboro's other Jersey Mike's locations in Orenco and Cedar Mill. Altogether, there are 14 Jersey Mike's across the Portland metro region, Sherwood, and Vancouver.

The Sunset Esplanade location will open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
