The Hillsboro City Council approved $125,000 to continue its support in the 2021-22 school year for the Future Connect Program that serves low-income and/or first-generation students enrolling at PCC, as well as $25,000 in support for the CTE Program.

Creating career pathways for Hillsboro students
Launched in the summer of 2020, the CTE Program focuses on supporting students who pursue a path in a CTE program that aligns with high-growth/high-demand jobs in Hillsboro, while leveraging the services the Future Connect Program provides.
“We’re grateful for the continued and active support the City has shown for these vital PCC Future Connect programs,” said Kristi Wilson, the Workforce Development Manager for the City of Hillsboro. “It’s a partnership that serves as a model for the Portland area, but more important, provides clear and viable career pathways for students in our community. Last summer, three students participated in the CTE program and they have all since moved into full-time employment with Hillsboro companies.”
In addition to partnering with PCC, the CTE Program also works with the Hillsboro School District and industry partners to provide clear and viable pathways to careers for students.
“This partnership is innovative and is a great way for students to jump start their educational and career trajectories,” said Dana Fullmer, Future Connect College Success Coach and Instructor. “It’s important for students to be aware that there are multiple pathways to achieve their goals and Career Technical Education is one of those ways.”
