'Safe n Sane' Returns To Hillsboro This Halloween

The annual downtown celebration typically sees hundreds of kids and adults gather together for trick-or-treating and a costume contest.

HILLSBORO, OR — Hillsboro's popular "Safe n Sane" downtown Halloween party returns this year with numerous businesses expected to hand out candy to all the little trick-or-treating ghouls and goblins.

The event has been running strong for more than 30 years, according to some locals, who reportedly even remember seeing Hillsboro named on national news as one of the first retail districts in the country to hand out candy to kids on Halloween.

Whether or not that's actually true will likely remain a Halloween mystery, but the city has continued its tradition rain or shine for decades now, often with hundreds of children attending.
