For 14th Year, Abington Schools Named 'Best Community For Music'

The Abington School District has once again received a prestigious honor recognizing the excellence of its music programming.

ABINGTON, PA — The Abington School District has once again received a prestigious honor recognizing the excellence of its music programming.

It's the 14th consecutive year that the district has received the commendation from the NAMM Foundation.

"It is a testament to the amazing music teachers we have working in our District who help to deliver a quality music education to our more than 8,300 students from grades K-12," said Matthew Harris, Supervisor of Fine Arts in Abington School District. "It also speaks to the shared support of music education by the stakeholders of the Abington School District community."

According to the NAMM Foundation, the award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education.

Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

In order to qualify for the award, schools must provide information regarding funding, graduation requirements, facilities, participation in music classes, and more.
