Abington Hospital Sets Up Coronavirus Testing Site

As cases continue to grow in Montgomery County, a coronavirus testing site has been set up at Abington Hospital.

ABINGTON, PA — A temporary coronavirus testing site has been set up at Abington Hospital, one of the numerous pieces of expanded healthcare infrastructure added in recent days as the outbreak continues to spread.

The new site is for referral by a physician at Abington-Jefferson Health only, officials stress. Residents looking for a test are not permitted to show up otherwise.

The new site is in addition to a planned county-run drive-thru site in Lower Providence Township.

Meanwhile other hospitals around the region, like Einstein, are looking at transforming their primary care offices into testing facilities. They're also changing their emergency room workflow, and considering drive-up services where patients do get out of cars in order to minimize the exposure to hospital staff on the front lines of fighting the virus.
