Abington HS Counselor, World War II Sgt., Barbershop Vocalist Dies At 92
Benedetto Monticciolo always taught to treat the waiters and waitresses with extra kindness.

LANSDALE, PA -- Benedetto Monticciolo, a resident of Lansdale, PA passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the age of 92.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923, Ben was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Monticciolo. He graduated from Eastern District High School in Brooklyn and enlisted in the Military during World War II. Ben was a Sgt. In the 391st Bombardment Group, Army Air Force receiving the Soldier’s Medal and serving in may campaigns throughout Europe.

He received a Bachelors of Science from West Chester State College and a Masters Degree in counseling from Columbia University Teachers College. He as the Chairman of the Guidance Department at Abington High School, North campus and served as a counselor at Willow Hill Elementary School. Ben was also employed by the Southern Regional School District in Manahawkin, NJ and there ignited a lifelong love of Long Beach Island.
After retiring in 1994, Ben relocated to Brittany Point Estates in Lansdale. In his retirement, Ben and his wife Marise enjoyed many Elderhostel Courses, Travel experiences and their six grandchildren.

Ben is a committed Barbershop vocalist for over 50 years he was a proud member of the Bucks County Country Gentlemen chorus of Doylestown as well as the Abington chorus of Old York Road. He is a devote Christian, who served his Lord with enthusiasm, joy and a song in his heart.
He was a dedicated Phillies Fan and a season Ticket Holder for over 30 years. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at 11:30 graveside at Newtown Cemetery, 600 Washington Ave., Newtown and a Memorial Service at 2 PM Brittany Point Estates, 1001 South Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Ben would prefer that you and the people you love enjoy a meal at your favorite restaurant. Be fully engaged in each other, put away all of your distractions and really listen to each other. Perhaps you will end your meal with a slice of cheesecake or a delicious ice cream sundae topped with hot fudge. And treat the waiters and waitresses with extra kindness.
