Abington Snow Emergency Goes Into Effect
A snow emergency has been delcared in Abington. Vehicles must be moved from emergency routes.

ABINGTON, PA — A snow emergency has been declared in Abington. Most importantly and pressingly, it means that all vehicles must be removed from snow emergency routes in the area, as the roads will be cleared by plows.
The emergency in Abington is in effect from 6 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Township offices are shut down for the day.

Vehicles that are left on emergency routes once the emergency is in effect may be towed.

- Old York Road
- Easton Road
- Moreland Road
- Huntingdon Pike
- Susquehanna Road
- Fitzwatertown Road
- Old Welsh Road
- Fox Chase Road
- Meetinghouse Road
These roads are only shut down for a portion, the township says:
- Jenkintown Road (North Hills Ave. to Highland Ave.)
- Mt. Carmel Avenue (North Hills Ave. To Highland Ave.)
- Woodland Road (Easton to Fitzwatertown)
- Edge Hill Road (Moreland Rd. to Old Welsh Rd.)
- Valley Road (Lower Moreland Line to Susquehanna)
- Township Line Road (York Rd. to Filmore St.)
- North Hills Avenue (Fitzwatertown Road to Moreland Rd.)
Police are also warning residents not to reserve parking spaces using chairs, cones, or other items. It is illegal, and officers will cite residents.
It is illegal to deposit snow from sidewalks into the street, officials added.
Residents should check in on elderly or vulnerable neighbors.
Several inches of snow are anticipated as winter weather moves through the area late Wednesday morning and into Wednesday evening.
